Preparation
A DFI nF4 Ultra board that can be modded (old version).
Below is the Nfore4 ultra chip that is harder to be modded (the bridges were covered by epoxy). The epoxy has to be removed first before short circuit those bridges.
Picture
A CAIG circuitwriter pen (12.99USD).
CAIG
NForce 4 Ultra chip was detected before the modding.
progress
Use the circuitwriter pen to short circuit that two solder points in yellow rectangular. After that let it dry for few minutes. Then use a digital multimeter and test its resistance. If it is short circuit well then some small resistance will be there.
Result
NForce 4 SLi chip was detected after the modding.

In the BIOS, SLi function is viewable and SLi can be enabled.

basically only nf4 SLi chip can run in SLi mode.
that board is using nf4 ultra D chip, so it cannot run in SLi mode even you put two cards on it.

well u might be able to still mod it...
get a miniature file and file down the epoxy until the metal contacts are exposed. but that will definately void ur warranty.

Not bad, but I read somewhere that a modded Ultra chipset will have slightly lower performance of a standard SLI chipset.

tested this modded DFI nF4 D with 77.77Nvidia VGA driver ..
it is working well... so what Nvidia told before that with the BIOS newer than 71.89, the modded DFI nF4 D can't run the SLi ..

because designing a model will be cheaper than 2 models
so dfi make the design same for the ultra chip and sli chip ....
and maybe they found that the ultra chip can be modded to sli easily la...

Oh.. so baiscally they used the same layout and stuffs but use a different chipset.. which they found out to be moddable easily into Ultra? Woa.. that's kinda.. oxymoronical.. but hey I like their idea...

SLi is something like dual channel memory, dual core CPU
so will be harder to overclock two cards than one card..
got it ?

I'm not sure if you can easily clean it. The best way is to scrap it off (blade), without damaging the chipset.
But it will surely void your warranty.....

Is there no other way around to clean the epoxy?
use the blade....huhuhu...hard enough for my baby...
I've tried using the pencil trick but it fails.

Maybe you can try heating it with a hot-air gun..... but not until too hot la.. might melt your chipset at the same time

You can also try using some strong alchol and scrap it off with a screw driver or metal ruler.
Or use a solder gun to heat it up..

Epoxy is similar to thermal paste, but it is a lot stickier!
