i was helping a friend set up a new PC and like only realising that the new AMD64 socket 939 is Assembled in China??? since when the hell did this happen???
Thought all along AMD processors are Assembled in Malaysia...or is this one of those illegal re-badge CPUs ????

Kinda weird to see an AMD proc with "Assembled in China" tag on it. I recently purchased an AM2 3000+ and it is still assembled in Malaysia.
If its illegal re-badged CPU, you will be able to tell through CPU-z (I hope)...

Seems to be fine, tried googling around didnt manage find much info last i heard is Assembly line is gonna b moved to singapore...apparently....but CHINA?
At the same time, read up in some other threads in other forums, there are couple of dudes are buying semprons Assembled in China as well
but i took down the stepping code though LBBWE 0611DAF

dont know dude abt intel...to my knowledge both intel and AMD plants are in Malaysia. The info that i got from some other froums was that the AMD processor that is made in China is apparently a legitimate plant chartered by IBM or something....
Contrary to that if its really a re-badge CPU those priates will Try as hard to disguise the CPU, rather than printing on the heatspreader something different
something not related to processor assembly anyone knows if a 1GB memory system shows as 960Mb of Ram instead of 1gb under systems tab in control panel????
where did the other 40mb go to???
im using 2gb of Ram and system tabs shows me 2gb of ram and not 1.8gb of Ram??

Looks like something is sharing the physical memory there.
Is there an onboard VGA on the mobo?

Drop in a crappy PCI VGA card and be done with it... that's if you don't wanna share your RAM with anyone!
