Er... a friend of mine asked me to help build a PC for him...
Mainly will be used to surf the web, worf processing, and mayb light gaming....
The budget for this rig is RM1500-1700 (MAX)

Must also include wireless keyboard N mouse plus decent 17" LCD.... cool.gif
Prefer to future-proof it too... by getting AM2 socket mobo N processor....

Give me an idea what stuff I should be getting...
Thanx all.... biggrin.gif

Dude i think a bit hard eh brother...AM2 somemore, DDR2

Best bet would b to go with AM2 sempron, onboard graphics so u can save the $$$ for the decent 17" LCD

Wow... RM1.7K with 17" LCD?
That's gonna be tight!
Firstly, a 17" LCD will easily cost about RM600-700. But if you got sources, you can get those Dell 17" for less than RM500.
So with that, you're left with slightly above RM1K for the rest.
Currently, you can the best performance/price with AMD but it's up to you to decided which side you choose.

Here's what you can do with RM1K for the CPU:
Sempron 3000+ AM2 - RM200 (Can OC up to 2.8GHz)
AM2 Mobo - RM250~350
7300GT DDR3 128MB - RM350-400 (Optional)
DDR2 512MB - RM150
HDD 80GB PATA - RM145
DVDRW - RM150
Case - RM100
Total for CPU: ~RM1.1K (RM1.4K with 73GS DDR3)

So as you can see, even with the lowest spec, you might just have enough cash to get a 17" LCD. Optionally, you can choose to go with 7300GS DDR3 but I strongly recommend it if you are into gaming. What's the point getting an LCD if your onboard VGA is crap?

For me this friend of mine does not play com games often....
SO I think it is ok to stick with on-board VGA.... tongue.gif
Later can upgrade rite.... N also... don't think he wants to burn dvds.... huh.gif
A dvd rom will do for his case..... smile.gif

BTW thanx for the advice... but can you guys also state... wat mobo and etc..... that u would recommend me to get.... ty.... biggrin.gif

Nope... I don't have the source but I can PM you where to get it.
As for an AM2 mobo with onboard VGA, I think the Biostar TForce 6100 AM2 will do the job right. It goes for RM270 only.
Although your friend maybe not into DVD burning, I think he should get one as the price is getting cheaper these days. Trust me, he will end up burning more DVDs with a DVD-RW biggrin.gif
Blah Blah Blah
I just update(27/07/2006) my gaming rig guide, you can use it if you have some trouble of choseing hardware, or you can just do some reference. smile.gif
