Radeon X1950 at launch will come in two flavors: a high clock "XTX" version, and a CrossFire version. Both cards feature 512MB GDDR4, and the only major difference between the two is that the CrossFire X1950 houses the composite engine and input interfaces for CrossFire. Just yesterday, ATI issued an advisory to its partners claiming "Clock frequencies for RADEON X1950 family products are pending and will be provided at a later date." However, in March of this year ATI released a new policy for AIB partners to overclock X1000 series cores with some discretion. While we can already confirm some partners are planning 650MHz core versions, there is still a distinct possibility that higher clocked cards are also in the works. Memory clock frequencies have not been announced either, though Samsung announced its GDDR4 is already capable of 3.2GHz in 8x512Mbit configurations.

ATI's advisory documentation claims the Radeon X1950XTX will begin sample availability on August 7, with the CrossFire sampling beginning exactly one week later. Sampling of the Radeon X1900XT 256MB will begin immediately.

looks like the 7950GX2 won't last for long... but the launch of the DX10 would bring down all DX9 cards to their knees

Hmm... I still doubt if the X1950XTX will perform better than the 7950GX2. Remember, the 7950GX2 has two GPU cores!

who knows? the X1950XTX is supposed to use samsung's new GDDR4, which is proposed to be capable of 3.2Ghz.

Yup... but beating a dual GPU card is not going to be easy.

Heh. Sometimes shit happens, just like the 7300GT vs 12pipes cards. tongue.gif However the gap is still there though.

But the idea of shifting to dx10 for gaming in Windows Vista is hurting my head. Nevermind, will stay with WinXP and pick up all the obsolute cards. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
Blah Blah Blah
X1950XTX REVIEW!!!!!!!!!!111111111!!!!11!!!! laugh.gif

so it may not be as powerful as a 7950GX2, but it certainly is cheaper than it. It's even cheaper than the X1900XTX, which makes it one heck of a buy.
pcmoddingmy
See..... told ya..
No way can a single Radeon beat the GX2 tongue.gif
The X1950XTX is actually an X1900XTX with GDDR4. Basically that's all about it...

stop gloating or i'll beat ya to hell sad.gif

but i compared the price...
i not sure bout X1900XTX...
but X1950XTX and Crossfire cost US$449 and X1900XT cost US$279...
so i doubt if it's gonna b cheaper than X1900XTX...

but i agree to that previous comparison... cos 7950GX2 is certainly incomparable to any ATI Radeon X1000 GC series as it's dual GPU... and i dun tink GDDR4 can match with dual GPU... although I would say the gap between them is quite small...

if you checked the article, they say it's cheaper than a X1900XTX. Guess we'll have to see once it's launched here.

Yup it is cheaper, but you would need to spend more cash on the CF version... if you plan to go dual-GPU setup laa..
INQ told us that the X1950PRO will retail at about RM750 only... which might be a good buy for mid-range graphics card.
IMO, the X1900XT at RM1050 will be the best bang for buck!
Anyways, if I were you... I will wait for DX10 cards to popup.

P/S: Don't you guys wanna wait for NVIDIA response? I heard that 7950GT will be out pretty soon... biggrin.gif
getsu
yea, the 7950GT will be out... but by then, we'll have the DX10 cards coming. If you still want to go for a DX9 card, then maybe the 7950GT will be worth it.
<* Star Dust *>
is 7950GT gonna b pricy like 7900GTX?
7950GTX itseld de price will make u cry seeing ur money fly away...
extra 400 bucks away from BFG Geforce 7900GT...
pcmoddingmy
I dont think the 7950GT will be priced at 7900GTX. I would like to belive that the 7950GT will replace the 7900GT's pricing and NVIDIA will cut prices on the 7900GT.

Anyways, we'll get more info this week wink.gif
