"AMD has introduced desktop procs that is designed for user who are seeking for the ultimate in energy-conscious or high performance computing. The new technology which include the AMD 3800+ & 3500+ both in single core to operate at 45-watt on 65nm technoloy. Users can benefits from the performance-per-watts basis. Moreover, AMD had also came up with the new line higher end proc, the AMD 6000+ X2. "

Too little and too late for AMD on this side of single core performance. Only their X2 CPUs can remain some-what competitive against the Core 2 Duos. I expect with Intel announcing the E4xxx series, its matter of months before these AMD cpus are pretty worthless to anyone who has used PCs in the last 3 years.

One can underclock a Core2 and get low power paired with the 945 chipset. The 965 are power hungry chips....

Relatively, those on a budget, people will still find AMD quite affordable compared to Intel procs. smile.gif

It's like RM330 for a x2 3800 compared to a E6300 which is around RM600. (E4300 is RM600 or less in retail outlets and E6300 is RM655. 22nd April price drops awaits. tongue.gif) I do understand that the performance of E6300 leaps way forward from x2 3800 but some of us are just too budget conscious.

That should keep AMD going awhile, but if they continue on with only price cuts they won't survive long.

As for the single core side, cybercafes in Malaysia might want to check out on the less wattage eating processors, single cores should be sufficient for them in the time being. Different procs for different market.

That's for Malaysia though.

But as it's being said, AMD can't survive on like that with price cuts and low priced procs forever. Thet DO have to come out with something to counter the C2D.

Irregardless I do not hope for neither side, Intel nor AMD to go brankrupted or anything. Very unhealthy for us customers. smile.gif

Well for those two giant competitor to go bankrupt is quite impossible for the time being.. There r sum users who prefer Intel rather than AMD.. n vice versa..
With Intel being ahead with their Core 2 Duo line, is rather hard for AMD to break through though..
As for AMD, what AntaBaka said is rather fact, it's more to budget wise geeks..
From the source i heard.. there will rather be a huge drop in term of pricing for Intel Core 2 Duo family procs in either this cumin May or June.. hopefully, AMD will keep on survive in this business strategy-ed battlefield by R&D'ing more transistor in the waffle.

True that AMD will last for a while. They have other revenue streams that will keep them around for a decade, until they do that FUSION thing correctly. Intel had a lucky break with Core2, they are still not focusssing on HyperTransport tech like AMD has.
That HT was licensed from DEC (ex-Compaq/HP) and was a core inter-connect protocol for multi-proc. Well, one part of Alpha processor lives on.

I would like to see the ATI "Ring-Bus" technology used for RAM access in future as GPU ram and main ram blurrs towards the Fusion arctitecture. Enjoy the low price people, AMD or Intel, as long as it is cheap and fast, go for it!.
